Online Rapid STEMI ID

Online Rapid STEMI ID

Thousands of patients with ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) fail to receive critical therapy in a timely fashion, and nearly 30 percent of patients with STEMI do not receive any reperfusion treatment at all. To help address these issues, the American Heart Association has created a dynamic online program, Learn: TM Rapid STEMI ID. This self-directed, eLearning course prepares healthcare professionals to evaluate and assess victims with potential symptoms of myocardial infarction, interpret ECGs for signs of STEMI, and activate a system of care for rapid reperfusion of an occluded coronary artery.

This course teaches:

• Key changes in science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
• Understanding STEMI Systems of Care and STEMI recognition
• Basics of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and triage of STEMI patients
• Acquiring high-quality, 12-lead ECGs
• 12-lead findings that mimic STEMI
• Coronary anatomy related to 12-lead ECGs
• Indications for activating a Heart Alert System
• Includes 12-lead ECGs practice test
• Includes two-part AHA exam

This course is designed for any healthcare professional (EMS to in-hospital providers) who wants to improve his/her STEMI recognition and assessment skills, or for healthcare professionals seeking to obtain continuing education credits.

STEMI Recognized Provider Program:

The American Heart Association is pleased to offer a special program to pre-hospital care personnel. Upon completion of the Learn:® Rapid STEMI ID course and applying for CE credits, participants can choose to enroll in this program and will receive a FREE enrollment certificate and lapel pin.
