The completely redesigned American Heart Association’s Pediatric Advanced Life Support course is based on new science evidence from the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC and a new teaching methodology. The goal of the PALS course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Skills taught include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment, effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.

Audience
For pediatricians, emergency physicians, family physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies.

Class Preparation

• Purchase a current (2020) AHA PALS Manual and/or the AHA 2020 ECC Handbook, if you do not already have one.  

• Complete the Pre-Course Self- Assessment:

2. On the left side drop down the “Courses” tab select Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) - From the options that will show up scroll down to select the PALS Precourse Self-Assessment this will be the 1^st “Launch This Course” tab.
3. Print your scores to bring to class! You must bring the certificate of the Self-Assessment to class with you.

BLS for Healthcare Providers - Renewal 

The American Heart Association (AHA) HeartCode BLS Online Renewal is based on the American Heart Association 2020 Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. This online course is Part 1 of Healthcare Provider Renewal Certification. It provides a review for healthcare providers who have had prior CPR training. When combined with Part 2, the appropriate hands-on skills session, the online course will meet all the requirements for the American Heart Association's Course for Healthcare Provider Renewal. E-Cards will be issued to participants who successfully complete both the online and the hands-on skill portions of the course.

Fee includes online course, exam and skills test with an instructor. Training center will contact you via email with access information for your online course within 24-48 hours of registration. There might be a longer delay on weekends or holidays. The skills portion will be held during your ACLS or PALS class.
